His introduction to stardom began as the first comedic opening act for a rap concert when he toured with the legendary group NWA. Since then, TK has shared the stage with a multitude of celebrities including: Outcast, Ludacris, Jay-Z, Cash Money Millionaires, Ruff Ryders, DMX, 50 Cent, TuPac, and countless others.

TK is a prolific writer possessing the natural ability to captivate his audience through laughter and real-life experiences. He collaborated with HBO and starred in “Mo’ Funny: Black Comedy in America.” The reviews were astounding – TK was compared to the legendary comedy styles of Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and Moms Mabley.

Possessing talents beyond the stage, TK immersed himself into opportunities that included writing and producing on projects such as BET ComicView, Laffapolooza and MAD Sports. He also started a management company that launched the careers of Jamie Foxx, DL Hughley, and Mike Epps. TK later partnered with Tommy Castro and David Clingman to start the Artistry Management Firm. This collaboration allowed TK to work with critically acclaimed actors such as Sandra Bullock, Anthony Michael Hall, and John Leguizamo.

Some of TK’s cherished memories include: Master of Ceremonies at the Coliseum in Oakland during President Nelson Mandela’s US tour; presenting his lifetime friend and colleague, Martin Lawrence, with a Soul Train Award; and being a recipient of the coveted Redd Foxx Award (2019) for his long-lasting impact to comedy.

It has been often said that TK’s comedy circuit has been the best kept secret for over several decades. In addition to maintaining a robust schedule of sold-out live performances at theatres, concerts and comedy clubs TK is a regular featured guest on television, podcasts, local, and syndicated radio shows across the nation. Some of his notable appearances include: VLAD TV, Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, The 85 South Show, The Breakfast Club, and Drink Champs.

As a content owner, TK released his first stand-up special “Are There Any Questions” in 2008. In 2017 TK began to share his signature blunt advice and inspiration with a wider audience through the launch of his popular podcast the TK Kirkland Show – rated as a Top 50 podcast nationwide. As a strong follow, his first streaming special “Who Raised You” quickly became the #1 comedy event on Amazon Prime when it released in 2019.

Despite his success, TK maintains a passion for inspiring others to see past their circumstances. He has donated time at Montclair School with their Upward Bound Program and at The Academy for Urban Scholars, servicing at-risk high school students. His dedication to inspire change goes beyond young men and women who want an education. TK has also lent his time to those ensnared in and out of the justice system with the Scared Straight program.

Aligned with his devotion to health and wellness, TK worked with John Gregory as he created the framework for the National African American Male Wellness Walk/Run Initiative. This initiative allows men and their families to obtain free health screenings and raises awareness in living a healthier lifestyle.

As a catalyst in politics, TK’s urban initiatives have included: Campaigning for Congresswoman Maxine Waters, serving as a commissioned volunteer to Johnnie Cochran, speaking at racial equality rallies, using his podcast as a platform to encourage voting, and promoting Covid safety protocols.

TK is a firm believer in what lives on after your death is how your life will be remembered. He is a loving father who is passionate about his children’s overall well-being and leaving a legacy that shows what dedication and drive can accomplish. TK remains one of the most influential comedians working in comedy today and continues to approach each day as if it is his last.
